Kelly's Shower

This weekend my sister-in-law got married! It was such a beautiful wedding.. Kelly looked gorgeous and you could just see the love between her and Tim. It was so special to be a part of their day as they promised their lives to God and each other.

But before all that could take place Kelly had to go through a little tradition the week before.. her bridal shower. she was such a good sport and it was a lot of fun... here are some pictures of what went on...

she was dressed up and taken downtown...

Summer Yummyness

I have a weak spot for strawberries.. and this week when I picked some up at the market I was imagining some kind of strawberry shortcake... BUT I didn't have a recipe.. until.. allrecipes.com came to the rescue with this delicious recipe! (with a few tweaks suggested in some of the comments...)

Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour

1/4 cup white sugar

3 teaspoons baking powder

1 cup butter

2/3 cup heavy cream

1 egg, beaten

3 cups sliced fresh strawberries

3 tablespoons white sugar

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a large bowl, mix flour, 1/4 cup sugar, baking powder and cream of tartar. Cut in butter with pastry blender or two knives. Stir in cream and egg and knead until combined. Divide dough into 12 balls and press down into disk shapes. Sprinkle with sugar and place on baking sheets.

Bake in preheated oven 20 minutes, or until golden. Sprinkle 3 tablespoons sugar over sliced berries.

pleassssse ignore the messy kitchen :D

Let shortcakes cool before splitting and filling with sugared berries and whipped cream! (or you could just sandwich two of the cakes like we did) :) and then you enjoy!!!

Happy 4th of July (on the 5th..?)

Hey There!

I hope you all had a wonderful time celebrating the fourth of July.. (that is.. if you are from the amazing USA... and if not.. i hope you had a wonderful Wednesday) :)

In our family the 4th always was doubly special because its the birthday of the most amazing person I know.. My mom!

she knows how to keep us in line!

She is not only the most amazing mother, but a stunningly beautiful, funny and creative and the BEST example and friend.. She always knows what to say and has the most welcoming smile ever. People just cant help but like her! and of course its so fun to hear people say, "No way! She's your mom?!" (oh yeah.. did i mention she is the best cook too?!)

I admire her and my dad so much and I'm so excited to see what God is going to do in their next chapter! (They are about to move to Cork, Ireland to start a church there!) And if I'm half the person and mother someday that she is.. I'll be a very very blessed girl!

I love you mom! Can't wait to see you!
xoxo Carly
